Founded in 2008 by former NSW Police Commissioner Ken Moroney AO APM and his son, Peter Moroney, a former Detective Sergeant, the Nemesis Consultancy Group has grown from a small operation into a leading authority in Australia and internationally.​
Now operating across Australia and, when required, internationally, our group includes specialised companies such as The Australian Institute for Security and Investigations Training, National Workplace Investigations, and Child Safe Specialists Australia.
Our team has extensive experience working with government organisations, including law enforcement, Commonwealth, State, and Local Governments, and we also collaborate with universities, schools, religious organisations, not-for-profits, and private businesses, delivering tailored solutions to meet each client's unique needs.

Since founding Nemesis in 2008 alongside his father, former NSW Police Commissioner Ken Moroney AO APM, Peter has overseen the company’s growth across multiple Australian states and territories.
Professional Background
Peter's career began with the NSW Police Force, where he served from 1994 to 2011, spending the majority of his time as a Detective. His extensive experience spans a variety of serious crimes, including homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, child abuse, fraud, government corruption, and organised crime. Peter's work has taken him both around Australia and internationally. One of Peter's most notable achievements was his leadership role in Operation Pendennis, one of the largest terrorism investigations and trials in Australian history. For his contributions, Peter has received numerous awards, including the Michael O’Brien Memorial Scholarship, which allowed him to study terrorism across multiple countries.
Leadership at Nemesis
Nemesis specialises in workplace investigations, including child related matters and security assessments. His work includes managing investigations into historical child abuse, NDIS reportable incidents, fraud, corruption, and other serious matters. Under Peter’s leadership, the company has become a trusted provider of comprehensive risk and security solutions, particularly in managing hostile threats and mass casualty events. Peter also leads a team of security specialists conducting risk assessments and developing strategies to prevent and respond to incidents such as active armed offender incidents.
Academic and Training Contributions
As CEO of the Australian Institute for Security and Investigation Services, Peter has designed and delivered nationally accredited training programs, including the Certificate IV in Government Investigations. He has also developed specialised courses for regulatory and compliance organisations. Peter’s expertise is recognised academically, where he served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security at Charles Sturt University. His research interests include investigative interviewing, terrorism, fraud, and surveillance.

Ken was a member of the NSW Police Force for 42 years. During his 42 years of distinguished service within the NSW Police Force, Ken occupied several Executive positions.
Professional Background
Ken occupied several Executive positions, including Deputy President of the Police Association of New South Wales (1985 – 1987), Director, Police Recruit Education (1987-1991), Chief of Staff (1991-1993), Executive Director, Education and Training (1993-1997), Commander, City-East Metropolitan Region (1997-1999), Deputy Commissioner, Specialist Operations (1999-2001), Deputy Commissioner, Field Operations (2001-2002), Senior Deputy Commissioner (2002), and Commissioner of Police (2002-2007). Ken has been formally commended both by the Government of New South Wales and respective Commissioners of Police for meritorious service, including: •Officer in the Order of Australia (2006); •Australian Police Medal for Distinguished Service (1993); •National Medal (1981) with Second Clasp (2005); and •NSW Police Medal with Sixth Clasp (2002).
Academic and Training Contributions
Ken is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, Virginia. In addition, he holds a number of formal academic degrees including: •Doctor of the University, Hons.Causa, Charles Sturt University (2008); •Master of Arts, Macquarie University (1996); and •Diploma in Justice Administration, Charles Sturt University (1984).

Since his retirement, Ken has continued to work tirelessly in several volunteer or remunerative positions for various organisations, which have included: •Community Representative, Institute of Academic Medicine, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney •Chair, Benevolent Fund, NSW Rural Fire Service •Member, Conduct Division at Judicial Commission of NSW (Attorney Generals Department). •Co-Patron, New Haven Farm Homes Ltd •Patron, Lifeline Macarthur •Advisory Board Member, Sports Integrity Australia •Director, NSW Police Legacy •Honorary Fellow at the Australian Institute of Policing •Chair and Presiding Officer, Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security, Charles Sturt University •Director, Board of Management Kids Cancer Project and Oncology Foundation •Chair, Governance Committee, Schizophrenia Fellowship, Medicare Local •Patron, The Koch Centre for Youth Off The Streets, Macquarie Fields •Member Law Enforcement Advisory Panel at the World Bank •Member and NSW Representative Bravery Decorations Council Ken has developed and coordinated numerous emergency management/crisis management policies/procedures and desktop organisations for various government and non-government organisations throughout Australia. Ken has recently finished a project working collaboratively with the Office of Children’s Guardian, NSW.
