Building capability across leadership and staff is essential to effectively managing hostile threat situations. Nemesis delivers STEP (School Threat and Emergency Preparedness) and Simulation Training equipping all staff with the awareness, skills and confidence to act decisively and safely during a hostile threat situation.
Safety Training Programs
Staff must clearly understand their roles and be able to act quickly and confidently when it matters most.
The STEP (School Threat Emergency Preparedness) methodology provides a structured, practical framework to help education settings prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from hostile threat incidents.
STEP training builds the capability of all staff, enabling a consistent and coordinated approach to safety and decision making in critical situations. It also promotes proactive, informed and adaptable practices tailored to the specific needs of each school community.
STEP - Executive
Designed for principals and school executives, STEP - Executive builds the strategic leadership capabilities needed to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from hostile threat incidents. Participants gain practical decision making frameworks and a greater understanding of command and control skills that can be applied in real world, high pressure situations.

STEP - Staff
Designed for all teaching and support staff, STEP prepares staff to recognise warning signs early, maintain situational awareness and respond decisively in the critical first moments of a hostile threat incident, protecting themselves, students and visitors.
Simulation Training
Knowing what to do and being able to do it under pressure are two different things. Nemesis delivers fully immersive simulation exercises built around realistic hostile threat scenarios, taking participants through every stage of emergency management prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
Each simulation is customised to your setting's specific layout, risk profile and existing procedures, ensuring your team rehearses the situations most relevant to them. Facilitated sessions are currently delivered on-site, with virtual and hybrid models available soon.

Escape. Hide. Tell.
Escape. Hide. Tell. is the Australian Government’s national security framework for responding to an armed attacker.
Our training programs (STEP and Simulation Training) support education settings to understand and apply this framework in practical, context specific ways. Settings can begin their journey by aligning existing processes and procedures to the Escape. Hide. Tell. principles, ensuring responses are consistent, coordinated and appropriate for an education environment.
Aligning your school’s emergency procedures to Escape. Hide. Tell. strengthens readiness and ensures they reflect national guidance.

“By the creation of a school environment that enhances the opportunity for staff to observe student behaviour and by training faculty and staff to be attuned to changes in student behaviour, information about a student’s ideas and plans for violence may potentially be observed or discovered before harm can occur”.
